Raw Obsidian Igneous Rock Hand Sample, Approx 3 inch

This raw obsidian hand sample measures approximately 3 inches in length, varying slightly in shape, size, and color. Obsidian (also known as volcanic glass) forms from lava that cools almost immediately upon eruption, usually into water. Despite looking dissimilar from quartz, obsidian shares many physical properties with its major chemical component. Each specimen is hand-selected and processed by a geologist in Victor, NY, individually packaged in a transparent labeled and barcoded bag. Suitable for geology classrooms studying volcanic rocks and mineral classification.
