DNA Extraction Kit

This Innovating Science DNA Extraction Kit allows students to study the history of DNA discovery and the structure of DNA through hands-on isolation of DNA from plant material using biological detergents, enzymes, and ethanol. The kit develops understanding of genetic inheritance and the roles of DNA and proteins in genetic expression. Materials support 15 student groups and include 7.5% SDS / 1.5% NaCl solution, pepsin, 95% ethanol, zipper bags, filters, plastic tubes, graduated pipettes, and stirrers. A teacher's manual, student study guide copymasters, and Safety Data Sheet packet are also included. Ideal for high school and introductory college biology classrooms. Suitable for ages 13 and older with adult supervision. For laboratory use only.
