MacConkey Agar for Microbiology Experiments, 100g

This 100-gram bottle of MacConkey Agar is a selective and differentiating growth medium used to isolate gram-negative bacteria and distinguish lactose-fermenting species from non-fermenting species. The agar is dehydrated and supplied in a plastic open-mouth bottle for convenient storage. When prepared, lactose-fermenting bacteria will form pink colonies while non-lactose-fermenting bacteria will grow as colorless colonies, allowing for visual differentiation. Each bottle makes 2 L of growth medium. Mix 50 g of medium with 1 L of deionized water and bring to a boil while stirring to ensure complete dissolution. Pour into petri dishes or culture tubes and allow the medium to cool and harden. Each bottle comes with a Safety Data Sheet providing safe handling and storage information.
