This raw olivine specimen measures approximately 1 inch in length, with slight variation in shape, size, and color. Olivine is a major component of oceanic crust and has the highest crystallization temperature, making it the first mineral to form in a magma and a useful geothermometer. Its massive earthy habit is a perfect example of nonmetallic luster. Each specimen is hand-selected and processed by a geologist in Victor, NY, individually packaged in a transparent labeled and barcoded bag.
