Product Description

This platinum wire is supplied fused into a borosilicate glass tube handle and is designed for performing flame tests. The tube is attached to a silicon cork and measures 5 inches long by 0.6 inches in diameter. Platinum wire is preferred for flame tests because it does not impart its own color to the flame, allowing accurate identification of metal ions by their characteristic flame colors. The glass handle provides a safe grip during use.
