Gaussian Linear Magnetic Accelerator Demonstration, 27.7" Track

This Gaussian Demonstration Apparatus, also known as a linear magnetic accelerator, uses a series of magnetically interacting balls and neodymium magnets to demonstrate the principles of magnetism and kinetic energy. When a steel ball bearing is placed onto one end of the low-friction track, it is attracted to the first magnet and accelerates through the series, ultimately launching from the open end at high velocity. The apparatus comes with 4 neodymium magnets, 4 magnet holders that allow the user to reposition the magnets and reverse their polarity, and ten 3/4-inch steel balls. The track measures 27.75 inches long by 1.75 inches wide by 1.75 inches high. The magnet holders enable flexible experimental setups for teaching concepts including magnetism, motion, and Newton's Laws. Instructions are included. The apparatus is built from durable materials designed for repeated classroom use and is compact enough for easy storage and transport.
