Guanidine Hydrochloride, Protein Denaturant

This guanidine hydrochloride (guanidinium chloride) is a high-quality chaotropic agent for protein biochemistry applications. Appearance is a white crystalline powder with ≥1¤0.0% purity. A 6M aqueous solution is clear and colorless with pH 5.0-7.0. Water content (KFV) is ≤0.3% and heavy metals (as Fe) are ≤5 ppm. Absorbance at 260nm is ≤0.10 and at 280nm is ≤0.05 in 6M aqueous solution. No DNase or RNase detected. Identification by FTIR conforms to structure. Effectively denatures proteins and disrupts protein-nucleic acid interactions, making it essential for DNA/RNA isolation and protein folding studies.
