Half-Life Analogue Demonstration Apparatus

This radioactive decay demonstration model provides a safe, hands-on way for students to study the concept of half-life and create a decay curve. The set contains ten trays and 500 small plastic cubes, each representing a nucleus with one face identified as the "decayed" face. Students working in ten groups shake their cubes and roll them onto a table. For each throw, any cube landing with the identified face up represents a decayed nucleus and is counted and removed from the set. Over successive rounds, students record the number of remaining nuclei and plot a decay curve, developing a practical understanding of exponential decay and radioactive half-life in a completely safe manner.
