Elephant Toothpaste Catalyst Demonstration Distance Learning Kit

This Elephant Toothpaste chemistry demonstration kit is designed for elementary-level learners and introduces the concepts of catalysts, phase changes, and chemical reactions. The kit uses yeast as a catalyst instead of iodine to decompose hydrogen peroxide, producing a milder reaction that is safer to perform at home or in a classroom setting. When dish soap is mixed with hydrogen peroxide and yeast is added as a catalyst, the exothermic reaction causes a fountain of foam to erupt from a bottle. The kit includes 50 mL hydrogen peroxide (3%), 6 mL dish soap, 2 g yeast, two plastic cups, two stir sticks, and one 8 oz bottle. An instruction manual with activity worksheets and safety data sheets are included. The kit contains enough materials to perform the experiment twice.
