Forensic Chemistry and Drug Detection Distance Learning Kit

This Forensic Chemistry and Drug Detection distance learning kit introduces students to the basics of forensic chemistry. Students take on the role of forensic toxicologists investigating a fictional case in which someone has tainted the school cafeteria's chili. They perform a series of chemical tests on cafeteria ingredients and a control sample of aspirin to determine if any ingredients have been substituted. Materials sufficient for 2 groups. The kit includes acetylsalicylic acid control, corn starch, salt, sugar, 1M sodium hydroxide, 0.2M ferric nitrate, Lugol's iodine, deionized water, toothpicks, plastic scoops, microreaction plates, and an instruction manual with worksheets.
