Electrophoresis and DNA Fragment Length Determination Kit

This electrophoresis and DNA fragment length determination kit provides materials for students to perform agarose gel electrophoresis on DNA samples treated with restriction enzymes. Three samples are included: one cut with HindIII, one cut with EcoRI, and one cut with both enzymes. Students learn to set up agarose gels, load DNA samples, and stain gels to visualize DNA bands. The resulting banding patterns demonstrate how different restriction enzymes cleave DNA at specific sequences, and students learn to determine the sizes of unknown DNA fragments from their results. The kit includes 200mL 0.8% prepared agarose, 500mL 5X TBE buffer, 60mL 20X DNA stain, and three pre-treated DNA samples with loading dye. There is enough DNA to run 10 gels. Electrophoresis chambers, power supplies, and micropipettes (10µL) are required but not included. For laboratory use only.
