Synthesis of Rayon Polymer Chemistry Experiment Kit

This Synthesis of Rayon kit demonstrates polymer chemistry by having students synthesize cuprammonium rayon from recycled paper. In the experiment, recyclable paper (newspaper, etc.) provides the natural cellulose that is dissolved and reformed into blue rayon strands in aqueous solution. The rayon is insoluble in water, making the fiber formation visible as strands precipitate from solution.
