This Innovating Science Small Group Learning kit explores environmental chemistry, water pollution, and the role of nitrates and phosphates in eutrophication. Students examine the effects of nitrate, phosphate, and combined nitrate/phosphate solutions in miniature pond setups to understand point source versus non-point source pollution. The kit includes 20mL each of 10% sodium nitrate solution, 10% sodium phosphate solution, combined 5%/5% solution, and deionized control water, plus 20 plastic cups, microscope slides, and coverslips. Materials support 5 student groups. Ideal for environmental science and biology classrooms, distance learning, and homeschool settings.
