Acid Rain and Plant Growth Environmental Chemistry Kit for 15 Groups

This acid rain and environment kit allows students to examine the detrimental effects of acidic conditions on terrestrial plant growth. While acid rain is often associated with its effects on aquatic systems, it can also have significant impacts on land-based environments. In this activity, students grow plants under normal soil conditions, mildly acidic soil conditions, and very acidic soil conditions, then determine through physical observation whether acidity has any impact on plant growth. The kit contains enough materials for 15 groups of students and includes a teacher's manual and safety data sheets. Materials provided include 4 bottles of hydrochloric acid 12M (30 mL each), 1 bag of potting soil, 45 translucent 5 oz cups, 45 translucent 7 oz cups, 45 absorbent wick pads, and 1 package of radish seeds, along with a student study guide.
