Ocean Acidification Kit

This kit provides materials for 8 groups to introduce carbon dioxide into simulated ocean water and measure resulting pH changes over time. Students use the data to model how increasing carbon dioxide affects ocean carbonate conditions and connect their observations to the broader carbon cycle. The kit includes a simulated ocean water QuickPrep formulated for one gallon, sodium carbonate, baking soda, vinegar, pipettes, tubing, two-hole rubber stoppers, air stones, and spoons. A Teacher's Manual and Study Guide copymaster support setup, repeated pH measurements, and data interpretation.
