This travelling microscope is designed for schools and colleges, offering great accuracy for a variety of measurement experiments. The carriage slides on a cast iron base and carries a vernier with a swing-over magnifier, providing measurement accuracy to 0.01 mm. The scale ranges from 0 to 165 mm. The carriage has two locations for the microscope — one on the carriage top face and one on the side — enabling the microscope to be mounted with its axis in any of three positions relative to travel. The base carries a removable plate. The microscope is focused by rack and pinion and is fitted with a glass cross-hair graticule and draw tube. The optics include a 7x Ramsden eyepiece and a 3x objective with a 50 mm focal length, for a total magnification of 21x. Supplied in a wooden box.
