12-Piece Mystery Density Activity Set for Material Identification

This mystery density activity set contains 12 cylindrical bars, each with the same 0.5" (12.5mm) diameter but different lengths. The bars are made from two different materials, challenging students to discover the relationship between mass, volume, and density through measurement and graphing. As students plot mass versus volume, the data initially appears unrelated. As more data points are added, two distinct linear relationships emerge, revealing that the cylinders are composed of two different materials with different densities. This demonstrates that the density of a substance is constant regardless of its size. The set includes a wooden storage block and a complete manual describing density, mass, and volume fundamentals with calculation instructions. Part of the Eisco Labs Density Investigation series.
