This Symon's rain gauge consists of a cylinder made from iron sheet with a brass collar that fits into the top and drains into an inner cylinder. When the inner cylinder fills, the outer vessel collects the overflow.
The gauge provides a standard method for measuring rainfall accumulation over time. It is suitable for meteorology demonstrations, weather station setups, and earth science instruction in classroom and field settings.
