This Ticker Tape Timer measures the speed and acceleration of objects in motion by placing dots at regular time intervals on a strip of ticker tape threaded through the device. Transit time is calculated by counting the number of dots in a measured length of tape. The timer produces 50-60 dots per second depending on the frequency of the power supply. The timer is housed in a tough molded plastic case measuring 4.5 x 3 x 1.5 inches, with a tape guide and movable carbon disc plug to maximize disc usage, plus a 1.25-inch mounting bracket. It is supplied with one 50-meter roll of 15mm wide tape, 100 carbon discs, and instructions. A 12VAC power supply is required but not included. This device is a standard tool for physics classrooms studying kinematics, velocity, and acceleration.
