This Joule's Calorimeter is used to determine the specific heat capacity of a liquid using the electrical method. The unit comprises a nickel-plated copper inner calorimeter (3 inches tall, 2 inches in diameter) lagged and enclosed within an outer vessel (4 inches tall, 2.75 inches in diameter). A close-fitting ebonite lid is provided with a wire stirrer and a pair of 4mm socket terminals connected to a constantan wire heating coil (approximately 6 ohms resistance). The heating coil should be used with a current of 0.5A (maximum 1A); power supply not included. Thermometer not included. Suitable for physics classrooms studying calorimetry and thermodynamics.
