The Malvern Eddy Current Unit demonstrates eddy current braking when used alongside a hand-wheel driving unit. An aluminum disc with a 4.5-inch diameter and 20 mm driving pulley rotates on the apparatus, while powerful circular magnets mounted on a pivoted arm can be positioned over or away from the disc to engage or disengage the braking effect.
The apparatus is mounted on a secure wooden base fitted with rubber stoppers to prevent movement or sliding during operation. Overall dimensions are 6.5 inches tall, 7 inches long, and 4.6 inches wide. This unit is designed for physics classrooms studying electromagnetic induction and eddy current phenomena.
