This right-angle refraction prism is made from high-quality acrylic, measuring 0.4 inches long, 3.25 inches wide, and 3.25 inches tall. It refracts white light into its component spectrum colors when illuminated with a narrow beam of light. The prism creates a visible rainbow using any standard light source, including an LED from a smartphone directed through a narrow slit cut in dark paper. Moving the viewing target farther from the prism produces a larger rainbow with more distinct color separation.
