Laurent's Half Shade Polarimeter

This polarimeter comprises a fixed polarizer with a Laurent half-shade device and a rotatable analyzer, mounted at opposite ends of a tube along the same horizontal axis. The complete assembly is mounted on a heavy cast-metal stand with adjustable height. The instrument is supplied with two polaroids, a Laurent's half-shade device, and a 20 cm long observation tube. The analyzer can be rotated along a circular graduated scale from 0 to 360 degrees with a vernier reading to 6 minutes of arc. A fine-motion tangent screw is provided for precise adjustment. This polarimeter is used for measuring optical rotation in chemistry laboratories.
