Advanced Ripple Tank with Projection Mirror

This advanced ripple tank from Eisco comes complete with all accessories needed for wave investigations. The tank is intensely illuminated by a strong light source synchronized with the wave generator, allowing students to observe wave patterns projected onto a workgroup table. The frame is made of reinforced plastic with foam beaches to negate reflections. A mirror can be mounted at 45 degrees to project ripples onto a translucent screen on one side of the unit. Inside the ripple tank, a mechanical vibrator attached to a wave generator produces either point wavelets or parallel wave fronts. Various obstructions and barriers can be inserted into the wave path, including a single slit, double slit, or edge. Each water wave acts like a curved lens, with the crest appearing as a bright region and the trough as a dark region. The unit stands 26.5 inches in total height and takes approximately 280 mL to fill. No tools are needed for assembly, which takes approximately 10 minutes. The set includes: vibration generator, wave monitor unit, projection screen (13 x 11.875 inches), wave dippers, lever arm and support, ripple tank, projection mirror, 4 banana clips, set of footers with adjustment screws, set of lucite/perspex objects, set of instructions, and LED light.
