This ebonite friction rod measures 30cm in length and 12mm in diameter. Ebonite is a hard vulcanized rubber that readily acquires a negative charge when rubbed with fur, making the rod useful for triboelectric demonstrations. The rod is intended for studies of static electricity and friction in physics classrooms — for example, charging pith balls, electroscopes, or other test apparatus.
