This wooden resistance board lets students investigate how electrical resistance depends on conductor length, cross-section, and material. Six 1-meter wires are tensioned side by side on a polished wooden base measuring 1065 x 90mm, each terminating in 4mm sockets at both ends.
Wire selection: constantan at 1mm, 0.7mm, and 0.5mm diameters; copper at 0.7mm and 0.35mm diameters. By comparing the resistance of different wires with a multimeter, students can verify R = ρL/A and the temperature and material dependence of resistivity.
