Premium Air Spectrum Tube, 26cm

Air-filled spectrum tube for observing the characteristic emission spectrum produced when atmospheric gases — primarily nitrogen and oxygen, with trace argon, carbon dioxide, and water vapor — are excited by high-voltage electrical discharge.

The straight-form glass tube measures 26 cm overall, with side-mounted electrodes at each end and a 100 mm fine capillary section in the middle. Narrowing the discharge path through the capillary concentrates current density, producing a bright, sharp emission line that resolves cleanly through a hand spectroscope or diffraction grating.
When energized with a compatible high-tension spectrum tube power supply, the air discharge appears predominantly pink-violet, with the characteristic nitrogen second-positive system bands across the violet and blue-green dominating the visible spectrum. Comparing the air spectrum against the pure nitrogen (PH1196B4) and oxygen (PH1196B1) tubes lets students see how a mixture spectrum is built from its components — a classic atomic spectroscopy demonstration.

Compatible with standard spectrum tube power supplies, including the Spectrum Tube Power Supply (ESRPH1197A), the Premium Spectrum Tube Power Supply (ESRPH1197B), and the 110V/220V supplies with safety doors (PH1199B / PH1199A).
