Phenol Red Sucrose Differential Medium

This 100 g bottle of phenol red sucrose broth is a differential medium used to determine whether bacteria can ferment sucrose. The medium contains a pH indicator that shifts from red to yellow when fermentation occurs. It may also be used with Durham tubes to detect gas production during the fermentation process.
