Wall-Powered Halogen Ray Box

This wall-powered ray box uses a halogen light source to produce parallel convergent rays across a horizontal surface. The rays are intense enough to be traced in natural light, eliminating the need for a completely dark room. The kit includes a sheet metal outer case, halogen bulb, fixed lens, wall plug, and a multi-slit card that produces either a single wide beam or one, three, or five pencil-thin rays. Built in a solid aluminum extrusion casing, the ray box operates directly from 100-240V 50/60 Hz mains power. An external power supply may also be used. The apparatus is well suited for teaching geometrical optics when combined with acrylic or glass demonstration optics.
